A case has been filed against BRTC bus depot manager Sohel Rana and traffic inspector Rezaur Rahman in Sylhet for demanding a bribe of Tk 20 lakh.
Habibur Rahman Khokon, director of Majumdari counter of BRTC bus plying on Sylhet-Bholaganj-Sada Pathar road filed this case in Metropolitan Magistrate Second Court.
The court directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the case.
The case file was sent to the PBI office from the court on Monday.
Earlier on Tuesday (April 16) Habibur Rahman Khokon filed a case.
According to the statement of the case, BRTC bus service was started on Sylhet-Bholaganj-Sada Pathar road on November 9, 2019. He was given the responsibility of managing the Majumdari counter for bus tickets. After that he suffered due to various reasons. In 2020, CNG-powered auto-rickshaw drivers attacked counters. There is a case going on in the court. On March 29, BRTC Sylhet depot manager Sohel Rana came to the counter with bus traffic inspector Rezaur Rahman. They demanded Tk 20 lakh to handle ticket sales at the counter. At one stage of the argument, the depot manager and the traffic inspector abused him and threatened to kill him.
When trying to contact depot manager Sohail Rana to inquire about the complaint, his mobile phone was found switched off.
However, the other accused Rezaur Rahman said that he did not know the case. Regarding the demand for subscription, he said that he was asked to give up his duties after hearing that Khokon would go abroad. That’s why he may have filed a case.
Khokon, the plaintiff in the case, said that he has been managing the counter for several years. Now a bribe is being demanded to remove him. The information about going abroad is completely false.
