DSCC eviction operation on Mugda-Manda road

--

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has conducted evacuation operations for the second day to extend the road from Bishwa Road, the main road of Mugda, to Hyder Ali School in Manda area.

The operation was conducted under the joint leadership of Dhaka South City Corporation Property Officer and Executive Magistrate Mohammad Muniruzzaman and Executive Magistrate Jahangir Alam on Monday (April 22).

According to the design identified in the DAP, this program is being conducted in a joint initiative of Dhaka South City Corporation and Rajuk to raise the road to 50 feet from Bishwa Road, the main road of Mugda, to Mander Hyder Ali School. This campaign started yesterday and continues today.

In connection with the operation, Corporation Property Officer and Executive Magistrate Mohammad Moniruzzaman said that the existing road from Mugda’s main road Bishwa Road to Hyder Ali School has been identified to widen the existing road by 50 feet according to the DAP design.

In that light notice has been given to the building owners. We requested them to remove the structures. In view of that, almost all the building owners are moving their structures spontaneously for the sake of development of the area by widening the road.

At present the average width of the road is 17 feet. This initiative has been taken with the aim of creating 5 feet by 10 feet pedestrian walkways (sidewalks) and two rows (double lanes) of 40 feet main road on both sides of the road.

For that purpose, the building owners were given four notices from Rajuk. Last Thursday, the evacuation operation was started from Sunday.

Local councilor Mohammad Sirajul Islam Bhatti was present in today’s campaign.
