Chittagong: Based on a complaint of 2023 HSC examination, the committee formed by the Department of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is starting an investigation into the fraud of the HSC examination result of the son of Chittagong Education Board Secretary and incumbent Chairman Prof. Narayan Chandra Nath.

The members of the three-member investigation committee are the Director of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (Monitoring and Evaluation Wing) Professor Md. Amir Hossain, Assistant Director (HRM) of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Ashekul Haque and Khandkar Azizur Rahman of EMIS Cell of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education.
It is known that Professor Narayan Chandra Nath’s son Nakshatra Debnath passed the 2023 HSC examination with GPA-5.
He gets A-plus in all subjects except Bengali. But with an A-plus in the fourth subject, his overall result was GPA-5. As he did not get A-plus in Bengal, his family applied for re-examination as per the rules of the board. When you go there, you will find that someone has already applied for all the subjects. Concerned about her child, mother Bansree Nath filed a general diary (GD) at Panchlaish police station on 4 December 2023. Reference is made to the GD to identify the person who has applied for re-examination.
The police investigation of Panchlaish police station showed that the mobile number of the former secretary of the board, Professor Mohammad Abdul Alim, was given as a reference in the re-inspection application.
Bansree Nath filed a case under the Cyber Crime Act after the police investigated the GD incident and submitted a report to the court. The case is now under police counter-terrorism investigation.
Professor Narayan Chandra Nath was working as Controller of Examination before the commencement of HSC examination 2023. As his child was an exam candidate, he applied in writing to the then chairman of the board on 25 January 2023 for exemption from all the secret activities of the exam. Based on Professor Narayan’s application, the then Board Chairman issued an office order in this regard on February 12 of the same year. The moment the HSC exam was over, the ministry removed Professor Narayan as the controller of the exam and posted him as the secretary of the board. As a result, he had no involvement with the HSC results.
The officers and employees working in the board said that a positive work environment has been created in the Chittagong Education Board. It is possible due to the efficient, competent and dynamic leadership of Prof. Narayan Chandra Nath in solving various crises and limitations. However, an outside group who had previously served on this board for various terms came up to destroy the image of Professor Narayan. The gang members are desperate to get back on board. They are the ones who have come down with adajal to shake people’s trust and faith in the education board. In this situation the circle is very active in thwarting the overall progress of the board.
In this regard, Professor Narayan Chandra Nath told BanglaNews, “A nefarious group is constantly maligning me.” This nefarious society is patronized by a handful of people whom everyone knows. Rumors of latest result fraud have been rife. But I was not involved in any way in the process of producing results. I am appealing to the investigation committee to clarify the matter.
Former Chairman of Chittagong Education Board Professor Pradeep Chakraborty told BanglaNews that Narayan Chandra Nath is a young and bright professor who is very active in improving the overall working environment of the board. A group is engaged in inaction against him. I know everyone in this group. While I was on the board, they tried to obstruct me from step to step. They are working to destroy the public trust in the Board of Education and are making all-out efforts to frame the current Secretary on trumped-up charges.
The matter is very unintended and far-fetched. Once the investigation committee starts working, it will not take much time to uncover the conspiracy.
Another former chairman of Chittagong Education Board, Professor Shaheda Islam, told Banglanews that the exam results are not made by the exam controller. He only supervises. Senior system analysts and programmers employed in the computer cell are directly involved in producing results. To be clear, the Board Secretary is not involved in anything related to the examination results. There is no opportunity for the Secretary to be involved in the work related to the Education Board Act.
