Bogra: Rally and march was held in Bogra demanding fair share of water of 54 identical international rivers including Teesta.

On Monday (April 22) at noon, the program was held at the city’s Satmatha square after the road march towards Teesta reached Bogra on the initiative of the Socialist Party of Bangladesh.

Speakers in the rally said that the Indian government is violating international policy and withdrawing water from the river one by one without considering the minimum interests of downstream country Bangladesh. Government of Bangladesh should present the issue in all international forums. But no such action is observed even today. The speakers called for a mass movement against India’s water encroachment, river pollution and squatters.

Most of the rivers do not have water during the dry season. Many rivers that were once beautiful have now turned into canals. He called for a mass movement to restore the flow of water in the rivers.
