A court has sentenced a person to life imprisonment for raping a girl in Barisal.

On Monday Barisal women and child abuse crime suppression tribunal judge. Yarb Hossain announced the verdict in the presence of the accused, said the court’s bench assistant Kazi Md. Humayun Kabir said.

Convicted Bachir Uddin Jamaddar is a resident of Bara Pramahar village of Nalchiti Upazila in Jhalkathi.

In addition to life imprisonment, he was fined 50 thousand rupees in the verdict.

According to the documents of the case, the girl has no father. Taking advantage of his helplessness

Bachir Uddin, a distant relative of the girl, brought her to Barisal city on November 5, 2012 to see a doctor.

Later, he took him to the residential hotel South Bengal on Band Road in front of Barisal Sher-e Bangla Medical College Hospital.

Bachir Uddin raped the girl there. The next day on November 6 in the morning, the girl managed to escape and called the police from the front of the hotel.

Later, the police arrived and arrested Bachir and rescued the girl and admitted her to the One-Stop Crisis Center (OCC).

In this incident, on that day, the teenager filed a case of rape at Kotyali Model Police Station accusing Bachir Uddin as the accused.

On January 8, 2013, SI Salim Khan of OCC filed a charge sheet against Bachir Uddin in the court.

After hearing the testimony of seven people, the court found Bachir Uddin guilty.
