Chittagong: The court sentenced a young man named Md. Alamgir Prakash Alam Dakat (46) to 22 years imprisonment in the case of recovery of weapons from the rubber garden area of Raujan village, East Raujan police station.
On Monday (April 22), Chittagong’s 7th Additional Sessions Judge and Special Tribunal-15 judge ASM Shahidullah Qaiser gave the verdict.
Convicted Md. Alamgir, the son of Md. Abdul Chatter of Ward No. 9 Chiddik Chowdhury of Raujan Municipality of the same police station.
Court bench assistant Hafez Ahmed told Banglanews that the evidence proved the charges against the accused. The court sentenced Alamgir to 15 years of rigorous imprisonment for recovering weapons, and 20 thousand rupees fine and 3 months of unpaid imprisonment.
7 years imprisonment for cartridge, 10 thousand rupees fine and 2 months imprisonment without labour. Although the two terms will run concurrently with a total of 22 years, the accused Alamgir will have to serve 15 years. The accused was present in the court during the verdict. He was sent to jail on a warrant.
From the documents of the case, it is known that on November 20, 2019, Raujan village of East Raujan village rubber garden from Samchu hill area. Alamgir was arrested. At that time, 10 country-made short guns, 1 gas gun, 5 country-made pipe guns, 1 old magazine, 7 cartridge shells, 3 country-made single barrel guns and 27 wooden butts were recovered from the country-made factory. In this incident, the then Sub-Inspector (SI) of Raujan police station Md. Saimul Islam filed a case under Arms Act as the plaintiff. After the investigation of the case, after the charge sheet was submitted to the court, the trial of this case started on October 21, 2021 by framing the complaint against the accused.
