The National Directorate of Consumer Rights has fined three companies Tk 55,000 for selling fans at high prices in Kotwali of Chittagong city.
Anisul Islam, Assistant Director of National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate, Chittagong, conducted the operation in Rifle Club area of Kotwali police station on Monday (April 22).
He said that people of Chittagong are leaning towards alternative system due to the deterioration of load shedding situation. Many are buying charger fans, charger lamps and IPS in the hope of a little relief. In order not to increase the prices of these products, a raid was conducted in the Rifle Club area today.
At this time M/s Shah Jalal Electronics, SH Electronics 5 thousand Taka, Look Electric 30 thousand Taka have been fined due to discrepancy in the price in the voucher of purchase and sale of rechargeable fan and sale of fan at high price.
Besides, an organization has been fined Tk 30,000 for storing expired cakes and processing sweets in an unsanitary environment.
