Main accused arrested in Gulshan ATM booth security man murder case

The main accused, Ariful Islam, has been arrested by the Intelligence-Gulshan Division of DMP in connection with the murder of the security guard on duty at Madhumati Bank’s ATM booth in Gulshan area of ​​the capital.
Chapati used in the murder, hammer and chawl used in breaking ATM booths were recovered from him.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Investigation) Mohammad Haroon Or Rasheed gave this information in a press briefing held at DMP’s media center on Monday morning.
He said that on the morning of April 10, Hasan Mahmud, a security guard working at the ATM booth of Madhumati Bank installed at Shahjadpur Pragati Sarani Maisha Chowdhury Tower of Gulshan Police Station, was hacked to death with a sharp weapon. In this incident, the victim’s brother Mahfuzur Rahman Rumel filed a case at Gulshan police station.
DB chief Harun said that along with police, CID and other agencies, DB Gulshan zonal team started shadow investigation of the case. During the investigation, Ariful was identified on the basis of CCTV footage and intelligence information and arrested on Sunday.
Regarding the information received during the interrogation, the intelligence officer said that the arrested Ariful Islam made a strategy by watching bank and ATM booth robbery scene through YouTube. He then kills but plans to rob the ATM booth. To implement this plan, Haturi, Cheni, Mirpur Pallabi bought a jersey of Bangladesh cricket team from Chapati, Sabal, Chaku and Mirpur stadium footpath from Millat camp junction.
He decided to rob the ATM booth of Madhumati Bank at Maisha Chowdhury Tower in Gulshan as the crowd was less and quiet. According to the plan, Ariful kept the goods in a bag on April 10 and stayed around the incident site. After observing for about one and a half hours, he was hacked to death with a chapati when the security personnel stopped him from entering the ATM booth. After trying for 10 to 12 minutes to break the ATM booth, he failed and left the hammer, hammer, chisel, sable, chapati, bag etc. at the spot and left with a small knife.
As the reason for the murder, the Additional Commissioner of Police said that Ariful, who was arrested 2 to 3 years ago, started the business of supplying bricks, sand and stones on the advice of his friends. Due to business losses, he was in debt of Tk 14 to 15 lakhs. At one point, he tried to sell one of his kidneys and left leaflets in Mirpur area. But unable to sell the kidney and unable to pay the creditors, the creditors went to Ariful’s house and started looking for him. He has been hiding for the last 3 to 4 months due to the pressure and fear of creditors. Ariful killed Hasan Mahmud to rob the ATM booth to repay the money.
