Attack on journalist in Chittagong, seven arrested

Salim Ullah, a staff cameraman of the private television channel Twenty Four, was attacked while recording a video of the clash between two groups in Chittagong. The incident took place near Mansurabad DB office in the city on Sunday night. Local Jubo League leader Saddam Hussain’s followers clashed with opponents.

Salim Ullah, the victim of the attack, said that Saddam Hussein and his followers attacked while recording the video of the clash. Meanwhile, he was taken to an empty place. There an attempt was made to kill Salim with a knife after beating and verbally abusing him. Later, when the locals came forward, they left. The terrorists smashed his mobile which was recording the video.

It is known that journalist Salim Ullah, the victim of the attack, was taken to Chittagong Medical Hospital with injuries. It injured his eyes and leg ligaments. He said that a case has been filed at Doublemooring police station in connection with the attack.

Doublemooring police station OC Fazlul Quader Patwari said that immediately after the case, an operation was conducted to arrest the accused. Seven people involved in the incident were arrested that night. But the master Saddam Hussein is absconding. Attempts are being made to arrest others who are absconding. All will be brought under the law. The incident is being investigated with utmost importance.
