Bangladesh University (BU), one of the private universities of the country, has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor. Md. Jahangir Alam. President and Acharya Md. Sahabuddin appointed him to this position for the next four years. Last Tuesday (April 16) the Ministry of Education issued a notification in this regard.
According to the notification, according to section 31 (1) of the Private University Act, 2010, with the approval of the President and the Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam was appointed as Vice-Chancellor.
Prominent educationist, internationally renowned researcher and former professor Dr. Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BU Kazi Jamil Azhar congratulated Md. Jahangir Alam.
Professor Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam started his career in Directorate of Fisheries in 1983, joined Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute in 1985 and worked there as Chief Scientific Officer for about 27 years. He joined Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University as a professor in 2011 and held additional duties of Dean, Head and Director. He won the National Award in 2009 for outstanding research achievements. He has published 103 journal articles so far.
