Former Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury praised the work of Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury. Although politically the two are residents of two poles, yet a unique example of sincerity, respect, love and affection has emerged between each other.
After a program at the Sylhet Press Club on Sunday, former mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury commented that besides praising Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, he should be supported by everyone.
Sylhet City Corporation elections were held on June 21 last year. Meanwhile, Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury has been elected as the mayor for almost 5 months. During this period, he achieved considerable success in making the city hawker-free through one of his major election promises: Clean Sylhet and hawker rehabilitation.
The city dwellers are now freed from the maddening pains of commerce occupying the highways. The hawkers now have a new address on the Laldighi side of the city. The mayor has increased the number of facilities for them several times than before. CSIC’s cleaning workers are also more advanced in keeping the city clean.And just as the attention of the aware city dwellers has been attracted to these matters, it has also caught the attention of the new mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury. Ariful Haque Chowdhury said that the city is now much cleaner than before. Working every day. Drains are being cleaned daily. He has only been in office for five months. Moreover, the current mayor’s new journey in local government. This should also be understood. He should know about each area, understand the problems. There are many problems. They must be identified. Then the solution, the task is very difficult. But I am optimistic. And to comment, at least one year should be given.
He said, the current mayor also said that our Sylhet project grant is very less than other cities. This should also be understood. Had the project approved three years ago to solve the problem of drinking water, this problem would not have existed today. He could use We also have waterlogging problems. While expressing his expectations, the former mayor said, he will get or is getting more administrative support than me. The biggest thing is that he has a good relationship with the head of government. That is an additional gain for us. We all should support him.
