Moderate to severe heat waves are sweeping across the country including the capital. In such a situation, the Meteorological Office has issued a precautionary heat alert for another 3 days (72 hours) across the country.

It is said that the ongoing heatwave over the country may continue for the next 72 hours from today. Due to excess water vapor in the air, the discomfort of public life may increase.

Earlier, a three-day heat alert was issued by the Meteorological Department for the first time on April 19 due to severe heat wave.

According to the Meteorological Office, extremely intense heat waves are sweeping over Pabna and Chuadanga districts. Apart from this, intense heat wave is flowing over Rajshahi, Tangail, Jessore and Kushtia districts. And the mild to moderate heat wave is likely to continue over rest of Dhaka, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions along with Srimangal and Chandpur districts of Moulvibazar and Rangpur, Mymensingh and Barisal divisions.

Amid the heatwave, rain may occur in some areas, the Met office said. It said that on Monday, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chittagong division may experience temporary rain with gusty winds and thunder. Along with that, there may be scattered rain of hail at some places. Elsewhere in the country, the weather will remain mainly dry with partly cloudy sky.

Also, on Tuesday (April 23), the day temperature may increase again and the night temperature may remain almost unchanged. The next day, Wednesday (April 24), the day and night temperatures may rise further, the Meteorological Department said.
