Medical Tourism Conclave-2024 was held in Dhaka under the initiative of Masdo, the exception of Assam.

Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh, Friends of Bangladesh and Sampriti Bangladesh participated in this event on Sunday (April 21) at the capital’s Dhaka Club.

Experts and officials from Peerless Hospitals of India, Rajdhani Group, Techno India Group, UZU Health, ILS Hospitals, Integra Ventures, Institute of Urology, Dental Patient and Implant Centre, The Illumis Clinic and CK Birla Hospital participated in the conclave.

With the participation of hundreds of experts from different public and private hospitals and representatives of the pharmaceutical industry from Bangladesh, the conclave was held in a total of four sessions to reduce the disparity in health infrastructure between Bangladesh and India, increase the skills of experts from both countries through mutual cooperation, increase cooperation between Bangladesh and India in the health sector, and through these, the people of both countries. Experts discuss and exchange views on ensuring universal healthcare.

Earlier in the opening ceremony of the conclave, former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam MP decorated the seat of the chief guest. In the speech of the chief guest, he said that currently the cooperation between Bangladesh and India has reached the highest level ever and emphasized on more cooperation in the health sector.

He said that every year the citizens of Bangladesh are spending about eight to ten billion dollars on medical treatment in India and other neighboring countries. If cooperation between Bangladesh and India in the health sector is increased to ensure better medical care for the people of the country, it will save the country valuable foreign exchange and that is the aim of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.

In the speech of the special guest, the president of Friends of Bangladesh Bir Muktijodha Major (retd) Shamsul Arefin recalled the days of 1971 and emphasized on similar cooperation in the health sector for the overall welfare of the people of Bangladesh and India. He expects that this conclave will play an important role in this regard.

The coordinator of the conclave and head of interventional hepatology division of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Dr. Mamun Al Mahtab is a dreamer. He drew attention to encouraging Seven Sisters patients from India to come to Bangladesh for easy and affordable access to advanced medical care.

He thinks that if appropriate initiatives are taken, there will be a significant response in this regard because our communication with India’s Northeast is now much easier than other parts of India and also under the overall supervision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, like all other sectors, the health sector of Bangladesh has started to feel the touch of development. He hoped. This conclave will open up this new area of ​​cooperation.
