Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun said that Bangladesh and Qatar will work together for the development of Bangladesh’s industrial sector. Due to the business-friendly environment and policies of the current government, Qatar has shown interest in investing in various sectors including LNG and fertilizer in Bangladesh. Other sectors of industry are also open to them. In the upcoming visit of the emir of Qatar, an agreement on mutual investment development and protection of the two countries is going to be signed for this purpose.

The minister said these things in an interview with the Qatari state television, Qatar TV, on the occasion of the upcoming visit of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin-Hamad Al Thani, to Bangladesh at the ministry’s office in Motijheel in the capital on Sunday.

The minister said that after independence, diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1974 with the efforts of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Since then cordial and friendly relations have existed.

He said, it has been accelerated by the Prime Minister’s two visits to Qatar in March and May of last year (2023). We are hopeful that it will reach new heights with the upcoming visit of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin-Hamad Al Thani to Bangladesh.

Interviewed by the presenter of Qatar TV. Mohammad Abdullah Bledah. At that time, the press secretary of the Qatar Embassy in Dhaka, Hamed Jamil Hussain, along with the related officials of Qatar TV, were present.
