33 candidates in three panel basis election

Withdrawal of nomination papers of 8 candidates

The election of the executive committee of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) for the period 2024-26 will be held on May 8. According to the election schedule, 8 candidates have withdrawn themselves from the election on the last day of withdrawal of nomination papers. As a result, 33 candidates will compete against 11 posts of the organization’s executive committee.

Among the three panels announced in the election, ‘Team Smart’ led by Mostafizur Rahman Sohel, ‘One Team’ led by Russell T Ahmed and ‘Team Success’ led by Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke are participating.

24 candidates are contesting in the general membership category in the executive committee elections. Apart from that, 9 candidates are contesting against 3 posts of associate, affiliate and international members. In the 11 positions of the executive committee, 8 members will be elected from among the general members and one each from the associate, affiliate and international members.

Md. is electing as a general member. Mostafizur Rahman Sohail, Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke, Russell T Ahmed, M Asif Rahman, Mohammad Aminullah, Mohammad Risalat Siddiqui, Liaquat Hussain, Uttam Kumar Pal, Mir Shahrukh Islam, ASM Rafiq Ullah, Syeda Nafisa Reza, Iqbal Ahmed Fakhrul Hasan, Imran Hossain, Taufikul Karim, Md. Shafiul Alam, Manjurul Alam, Syeda Naushad Jahan, Niaz Morshed, KAM Rashedul Majid, Didarul Alam, Md. Sahibur Rahman Khan, Farzana Kabir, AKM Ahmedul Islam and Rashidul Hasan.

NM Rafsan Jani, Syed Abdullah Zayed and Arman Ahmed Khan are running for the post of associate members. Abdul Aziz, Lutfi Haider Chowdhury and Biblab Ghosh are contesting for the post of affiliate and Syed Mohammad Kamal, AHM Hasinul Quddus and Abu Mohammad Rashed for the post of international member.

The total number of voters in the current BASIS election is 1 thousand 464. Out of which 932 are general, 389 are associates, 134 are affiliates and 9 are international member voters. The registered members of the organization are two thousand 401 people.
