Garment workers leader Kalpana Akhtar is threatened Bangladesh will ask for an explanation regarding the statement of the United States Minister of State Anthony Blinken said the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam.

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs said, ‘When some Western buyers refused to pay financial compensation to those factories after the Rana Plaza collapse, Kalpana Akhtar and two others went to the US and were arrested in the US to protest. We will seek clarification from the United States on what Kalpana Akhtar said, “They felt threatened for us or for someone else.”
Calling the media to investigate, he said, ‘If you go and ask him whether he said this at all, if not, on what basis did he say it? I think it is the responsibility of journalist brothers and sisters to find it.
“He has never told anyone in Bangladesh that he felt threatened,” said Shahriar.
Incidentally, Kalpana Akhtar is the president of Bangladesh Garments and Industrial Workers Federation. He is also the founding member and executive director of Bangladesh Center for Workers Solidarity.
