In Chittagong, the investigation officer along with the supervisory officer are investigating the fabrication of the gold bar smuggling case worth 7 crore rupees in Chittagong. The court questioned the professionalism and sincerity of the two officials in the investigation of the case. Such unprofessional investigations will create a culture of criminal impunity. Criminals will be more active in smuggling gold – the court order has also raised fears.
On December 18, 2021, 86 gold bars were recovered from under the 17-C seat of the Bangladesh BG-148 flight from Dubai to Chittagong. The price of 1 thousand 19 gram gold bar is around 7 crore rupees. But the police ended the investigation of the case without questioning Mohammad bin Tahmid, the passenger of the seat under which the gold bar was found. The investigation officer submitted the final report to the court in the case of smuggling without identifying any accused.

SI Abdur Rahim Miah of Patenga Police Station investigated the smuggling case in question. The investigation of the case was supervised by the then OC of Patenga police station Abu Zayed. Nazmun Noor and Chittagong Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Karnaphuli Zone) Arif Hossain. The monitoring officials also recommended submitting the investigation report to the court.
The investigating officer of the case, Patenga police station SI Abdur Rahim Mia said, after taking charge of the investigation, the incident site was visited, the plaintiff and the witnesses were interrogated. We employ spies and try to arrest the accused involved in the case. But during the investigation, it was not possible to identify and arrest any person involved in the incident of the case. So I submitted the final report to the court.
When asked about questioning the professionalism and sincerity of the court, he said, “I have no say about the order of the court.”

The monitoring officer called Assistant Commissioner of Metropolitan Police Arif Hossain several times but he did not pick up the call.
After reviewing the investigation report of the smuggling case on November 15, Chittagong Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Dr. The court of Jebun Nechcha gave this strict order. On December 18, 2021, Abdul Jalil, Assistant Revenue Officer of Customs, filed a case against the unknown accused in connection with the smuggling of gold bars at Shah Amanat Airport. The police submitted the final report to the Chittagong court on 27 December 2022.
