Correspondent: The auspicious inauguration of the inter-departmental football competition-2023 was held at the traditional Rajshahi College ground. The program started with the national anthem and the hoisting of the national flag and sports flag at around 10 am on Tuesday.
The valedictory process was completed by the march past of 26 football teams of various departments of the college under the well-equipped command of Rajshahi College BNCC. The chief guest of the program and the principal of Rajshahi College Professor Moha Abdul Khalek announced the auspicious opening of this football competition by blowing balloons. Rajshahi College Vice-Principal Prof. Moh Oliur Rahman, Teacher Council Secretary Prof. Abdullah Al Mahmud and other department heads were present at this time, sports committee convener Mr. Md. Anisuzzaman, Associate Professor, History Department along with Sports Committee members, teachers, staff and students.
The Inter-Department Football Competition-2023 officially started with the football match between Geography and Environment Department vs Philosophy Department around 11 am. The second game is held between Sociology vs Degree Pass Courses. The competition will be completed through 25 knock out matches of 26 football teams.
In the speech of the chief guest, Professor Moha Abdul Khalek said that there is no alternative to sports in building a healthy, strong, talented and beautiful nation. I believe that through this kind of football competition, players who are qualified to play in the national team will come out in the future. He emphasized on the importance of students to pay special attention to sports besides studies.
The Principal thanked and congratulated the convener and members of the sports committee, teaching staff, staff, students and players for making the event a success.
