Nafis is in charge of team operations of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). In the last two years, however, he has performed various duties. He was supposed to be the manager in the World Cup. But two days before the announcement of the team, BCB suddenly decided to remove Nafees from his duties. The immediate decision taken by the BCB was evident in his leaving the field in the middle of the match.
Bangladesh played the third and final ODI of the series against New Zealand at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on September 26. Nafees signed the player list for this match as Team Operations Manager. But he waited until the toss, after which the former batsman left the stadium during the match.
Long before the announcement of the World Cup team, the list of Bangladesh team officials and BCB officials was finalized for the World Cup. Nafis was named as Team Operations Manager there. But Shakib Al Hasan did not want Nafis as manager in the World Cup, which he told BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon. It was then decided to remove Nafis.
