Earlier, the EC had set a deadline of November 21 for applications by international organizations and media to observe the elections.
Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar said the deadline has been extended due to requests from many international observer organizations.
The EC said the commission is committed to conduct free, fair, credible and peaceful elections. In addition to domestic observers, foreign election observers and media also want to observe the upcoming parliamentary elections.
According to the International Election Observer-Media Guidelines, applicants, whether individuals or organizations, must have work experience in good governance, elections, democracy, peacebuilding and human rights.
The guidelines also state that the organization applying as an observer must submit proof of registration to the relevant authorities in its home country and must comply with the election laws of Bangladesh.
The EC will not consider observer applications from persons convicted of election or any other fraud-related offence.
