Bangladesh Bank has issued a warning for the security of all bank facilities and property operating in the country. Central Bank’s Banking Regulation and Policy Department issued a notification in this regard on Monday. Meanwhile, miscreants set fire to a bus carrying Central Bank staff in Motijheel on the same day. However, there was no casualty in the incident.
In the instructions sent to the managing directors of all the scheduled banks operating in the country, it is said that certain instructions must be followed by the banks for the sake of bank establishment and security of property.
This includes taking necessary measures to bring CCTV/IP cameras/spy cameras under round-the-clock monitoring of bank premises (branches, sub-branches, own/leased buildings etc.) at the entrance, inside, outside and around the premises and video footage captured by the cameras so that the nearest police station can be informed if necessary. / The bank will take effective action regarding what the police can get.
Besides, other instructions of BRPD Circular No. 07 issued on July 5, 2015 will remain unchanged. In order to ensure greater security of the bank establishment, through the circular, the necessary number of CCTV/IP cameras/spy cameras should be installed at the entrance of the bank branch, inside the branch, outside the branch and in all types of IT rooms, and other necessary instructions should be given along with saving the captured video footage for at least one year. was done
Bangladesh Bank has issued this instruction under the powers given in section 45 of the Bank Companies Act, 1991. Which will be effective immediately.
