In Madanpur area of Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Narayanganj, a truck lost control and hit an electricity pole forcefully, causing 10 electricity poles to fall on the highway. Traffic on the road was stopped but no casualties were reported. However, at least 5 vehicles were damaged. The surrounding villages are without electricity.
After getting information about this incident in the Madanpur area of Dhaka-Chittagong highway at around 10 pm on Monday, members of various law enforcement agencies including the police reached the spot. As of writing this report (12:15 am), there are electricity poles and wires lying on the road.
According to highway police sources, after 10 pm, a car hit a power pole on the side of the highway. At that time, when it fell on the road, 10 other poles connected to its wire also fell on the road. At least 5 vehicles including buses, private cars and covered vans were damaged. But no one was injured.
After this incident, the electricity supply to the surrounding areas was immediately stopped. After the accident, there was a traffic jam on the highway. Kanchpur Highway Police OC Rezaul Haque said the incident took place when a car lost control and hit a pole. 10 poles are lying on the road. A few vehicles were damaged but no one was injured. Electricity supply is off in the vicinity. Traffic on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway has been normalized by diversion.
