Barrister Amir-ul Islam and his daughter Barrister Tanya Amir have bought party nomination forms of Awami League in two constituencies of Kushtia to participate in the 12th National Assembly elections. A representative collected the nomination form on their behalf on Sunday (November 19). Advocate Sheikh Hasan Mehdi in charge of Khulna booth confirmed the matter.
Barrister Ameer-ul Islam has bought nomination from Kushtia-3 Sadar seat and daughter Tanya Ameer from Kushtia-4 (Khoksa-Kumarkhali) seat.
Current Member of Parliament of Kushtia-3 Constituency Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif. In addition to Mahabubul Alam Hanif, district Awami League general secretary Azgar Ali, vice-president Dr. bought the nomination form. AFM Aminul Haque Ratan, Vice President Laila Arjuman Banu and Khandaker Mahatabul Haque Joy.
It is known that in 2006 Awami League was well organized by Barrister Amir-ul Islam by going to door to door meetings in Kushtia Sadar Constituency, which is known as BNP’s base. His courtyard meeting is a role model for the whole country today.
Amir-ul Islam was born on January 2, 1937 in Kushtia Sadar Upazila. He was one of the organizers of the Bangladesh Independence War, the author of the Declaration and one of the framers of the Constitution of Bangladesh. Barrister Ameer was personally close to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Tajuddin Ahmad. He served as Minister of State for Food in Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s third cabinet. He was a Member of Parliament for Kushtia-3 Constituency in the first National Parliament.
Tania Ameer, daughter of Barrister Ameer-ul-Islam, is currently a partner at Ameer & Ameer ‘Law’ Association and a senior Supreme Court advocate. He is a dual citizen of Bangladesh and Britain.
