Sukumar Sarkar, Dhaka: Violence continues in poll-bound Bangladesh. The country is witnessing the rampage of the opposition party BNP and its ally Jamaat Shibir. On the second day of the 48-hour hartal called by the opposition on Monday, Jamaat leaders blocked the road by burning tires in Bogra. An attempt was also made to create panic by exploding cocktails. Later, a large police force came and brought the situation under control.
According to police sources, this incident took place in Kanuchgari area of the city on Monday. Jamaat activists tried to stop traffic by burning tires on the road. When the police arrived on being informed, the strike supporters detonated a few cocktail bombs and fled. Later, the police put out the tire fire and removed the blockade and normalized the traffic. Besides, a procession was led by Amir Principal of Bogra Municipal Jamaat Abidur Rahman in Namazgarh area of the city.

বলে রাখা ভাল, শেখ হাসিনা সরকারের পদত্যাগ ও তদারকি সরকারের অধীনে নির্বাচন দাবিতে বিএনপি ও জামাতের ডাকা বন্ধে রেহাই পাচ্ছে না বাস-ট্রেনও। বন্ধ শুরুর আগেই শনিবার জামালপুরের সরিষাবাড়ী রেলওয়ে স্টেশনে যমুনা এক্সপ্রেস ট্রেনের তিনটি বগিতে আগুন ধরিয়ে দেয় পিকেটাররা। গত ২৮ অক্টোবর থেকে ১৯ নভেম্বর অবধি দেড়শো যানবাহনে (ট্রেনসহ) আগুন দেওয়া হয়।অরথাৎ বন্ধ-অবরোধ সফল করতে দল দুটির হাতিয়ার হলো আগুন সন্ত্রাস।
এদিকে, বাংলাদেশের স্বাধীনতা বিরুদ্ধাচরণ রাজনৈতিক দল জামাতে ইসলামির নিবন্ধন অবৈধ ঘোষণা করে রায় দিয়েছিল হাই কোর্ট। সেই রায়ের বিরুদ্ধে দলটির আবেদন রবিবার খারিজ করে দিয়েছে আপিল বিভাগ। ফলে নির্বাচন লড়তে পারবে না জামাত। শুনানিতে আপিলের পক্ষে আইনজীবী না থাকায় প্রধান বিচারপতি ওবায়দুল হাসানের নেতৃত্বাধীন পাঁচ বিচারপতির বেঞ্চ এ আদেশ দেয়। ফলে এক দশক আগে জামাতের নিবন্ধন অবৈধ ঘোষণা করে হাই কোর্ট যে রায় দিয়েছিল, সে রায়ই বহাল থাকছে।
