Maulana Monir Ahmed Arshadi, a leader of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh, was killed in a passenger bus accident at Fulgazi in Feni. At this time, six others were injured.
The accident happened in front of Munsirhat Al Madina Community Center on Feni-Parashuram regional road at around 12 noon on Tuesday (November 14).
Monir Ahmed Arshadi was the General Secretary of Feni Sadar Upazila Ulama-Mashayekh Parishad and Vice President of Islamic Movement Fulgazi Upazila. Besides, he was Khatib and Islamic Speaker of Feni Sadar Hospital Mor Chaurasta Jame Masjid. He is the Dr. of North Daulatpur Shahapara area of Fulgazi upazila. Son of Saleh Ahmad.
According to police and family sources, Maulana Arshadi left for Feni in the morning in a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw to organize Siratunnabi (PBUH) Mahfil at Feni Sadar Hospital intersection on November 25. On the way, he was killed in a collision with a passenger bus coming from the opposite direction when he reached Munsirhat area.
Meanwhile, his death has cast a shadow of mourning on the scholarly community of Feni. Hearing the news of his death, his colleagues and well-wishers gathered in front of the Feni General Hospital mortuary.
Maulana Mahmudul Hasan, the brother of the deceased said, “We are trying to take the body without an autopsy.” Maulana Arshadi’s burial is scheduled to be completed at 8 pm today at North Daulatpur Shahapara village of Fulgazi after the Janaza next to his mother’s grave.
Fulgazi police station officer-in-charge (OC) Abul Hasim told Dhaka Post that the auto-rickshaw and the bus were taken into police custody from the spot. Six injured people were rescued and sent to Feni General Hospital.
