Japan-royal relations are about to reach a new level

Rajshahi: Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Iwama Kiminori had a courtesy call and meeting with Awami League Council member and Rajshahi City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton.

The meeting took place on Tuesday (November 14) afternoon at the Mayor’s office in Nagar Bhavan.

At the end of the meeting, it was informed that through this courtesy meeting and bilateral meeting, Japan-Royal relations are going to reach a new level in the future in the construction of smart cities.

In the afternoon, when he arrived at the city hall, the Japanese ambassador was welcomed by child artists in a colorful arrangement. After that, Mayor Khairuzzaman Liton welcomed the Ambassador of Japan Iwama Kiminori with flowers.

In the meeting, the ambassador of Japan praised the greenery, cleanliness and lighting of Rajshahi metropolis. In the meeting, documentaries and videos were presented about Rajshahi’s development activities and future plans. After the meeting, the mayor of Rajshahi handed over a mango-shaped memento and various gifts to the ambassador of Japan.

Ambassador of Japan Iwama Kiminori told reporters that various issues were discussed with the Mayor of the City Corporation. We came to Rajshahi after 14 long years. Our new journey with Rajshahi has started from today. Hope we can work on different things.

Rasik Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton told reporters that a Japanese ambassador came to Rajshahi after about 14 years. Japan is an old friend of Bangladesh. Our relations with them have been very cordial and cooperative since the time of independence. They also work with us at various times in both technical and financial support and project implementation. Japan has been cooperating with us in various fields starting from the third terminal of Dhaka International Airport, Matarbari Coal Power Plant.

He also said that we have adopted a plan to build a smart Rajshahi city. It has also been presented to the Japanese ambassador. I hope they will be implemented gradually in the future.

The Japanese ambassador was accompanied by Second Secretary Iwama Tamomi, Deputy Head of Public Relations and Culture Yamamoto Keochi, President of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management of Rajshahi University, Professor Dr. Md. Enayet Hossain, Assistant Professor Saju Sardar.

Rajshahi City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Dr. ABM Sharif Uddin and other officials were present.
