The preparations for the 12th National Assembly elections are going on in the midst of conflict and violence in the field of politics. Many people are putting up banners and posters in the streets of the area by capitalizing on various issues to inform about becoming a candidate. Busyness has started in Chittagong regional election office. Field work is going on. Various tools including nomination forms have arrived from the Election Commission. The electoral office is in full swing before the announcement of the details. Many potential candidates and their supporters are rushing to the election office to get the necessary information.

There are 63 lakh 964 voters in 16 parliamentary constituencies of Chittagong. 6 lakh 63 thousand 499 voters have increased compared to the last parliamentary election. 2022 polling stations and 13 thousand 741 rooms will take the votes of the twelfth national parliament election. At the election office at Lovelane junction in the city recently, it can be seen that along with the government party leaders and activists, potential candidates and supporters of various small parties are crowding.
When asked about this, regional election officer Mohammad Enamul Haque said that preparatory field and administrative work for the election is going on. A demand letter has been sent to the commission stating the quantity of electoral equipment including constituency wise ballot boxes and what quantity is required. In the meantime, the voter list, number of centers and booths have been finalised. Several tools have arrived from the Election Commission. All work is being completed step by step.

General Secretary of Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League and former city mayor AJM Nashir Uddin said, ‘BNP-Jamaat is harming people’s lives and property with programs like hartal-blockade to thwart the elections. They have again started the politics of burning people with fire. The election will be held at the scheduled time according to the constitution without following the prescription of foreigners. Leaders and activists have been instructed to work collectively to win the boat symbol to whom the Prime Minister and party president Sheikh Hasina will give the boat symbol.

In several areas of the city, banners and posters of several potential candidates of Awami League and other small parties were seen. Congratulating Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by highlighting the information of various developmental works, many people are sending messages to become candidates from the party. A person who is interested in becoming a candidate said that the activists have started various preparations for the election. In each of the ongoing blockade programs, we have been protesting with the leaders and activists and holding programs including protest rallies.
