Dhaka: The High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail application of four people including a doctor in the case of the death of a woman named Rahima Khatun due to wrong treatment in a private hospital in Habiganj Sadar. At the same time handed them over to the police.
Allegedly, the patient’s esophagus, uterus and left kidney were removed during the tumor operation.
Tuesday (November 14) Justice Abu Taher Md. Saifur Rahman and Justice Md. The High Court bench of Bashir Ullah passed the order.
Deputy Attorney General KM Masud Rumi represented the state in the court. Advocate Abdul Halim Kafi was the accused.
Later, Deputy Attorney General KM Masud Rumi said that 4 people including the doctor, hospital owner’s son and manager came for anticipatory bail in this case. The court has ordered to remand without bail considering the seriousness of the crime.
He said that the court said about the doctor, he was released after three days after performing an important operation. It is negligence on the part of the doctor. And the owner of the clinic said that they have opened a business in the name of service in the hospital. This type of business needs to be brought up to the nation, so that in the future people refrain from doing business in the name of service. So that the patients are also aware.
In response to the court’s question, the doctor said that the uterus, esophagus and kidney were not cut.
In this incident, a relative of Rahima filed a case against the doctor and the hospital authorities in the Habiganj Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on October 24.
In the statement of the case, it is alleged that Rahima Akhter came to Habiganj on September 9 for treatment at the Modern District Sadar Hospital. Later he was taken to the private The Japan Bangladesh Private Hospital with assurance of quality treatment at low cost. Later, an operation was performed to remove the tumor in Rahima’s stomach after conducting tests. After being under the supervision of Dr. SK Ghosh, he was discharged on September 12. After his condition worsened, he was admitted to Sadar Hospital. Later he was sent to Osmani Medical for advanced treatment. After examination there, it was found that the uterus, esophagus and left kidney were cut during the operation of Rahima’s tumor. Rahima died on October 15 while undergoing treatment.
The accused in the case are Doctor SK Ghosh, Director AK Ariful Islam of Habiganj Japan Bangladesh Hospital, Director Tabir Hossain and Manager Johnny Ahmed.
