The doors of the country’s second Novotheatre opened in Rajshahi

The journey of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novotheater, the second largest in the country, has started in Rajshahi city.

It is the first Novotheater in any city outside Dhaka. The government has also taken up the project of setting up two more Novotheaters in Rangpur and Khulna.

The four-storied Novotheater has been built inside the Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Central Park and Zoo of Rajshahi.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Novotheater via virtual video conference at around 11 o’clock on Tuesday.

At that time, Rajshahi City Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and administration officials were associated with the Prime Minister from the meeting room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

On this day, apart from Novotheater, the Prime Minister inaugurated the building of 12 educational institutions of Rajshahi built under three projects under the Directorate of Education and Engineering and laid the foundation stone of Rajshahi Medical University.

Rajshahi’s Novotheater will show six shows daily. The secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology said that students can enter for free on special days. Ali Hussain

He said, Novotheater is more modern than Dhaka. The main attraction of the auditorium here is the planetarium. 160 people can sit together and learn about the details of the planets and stars of the infinite space.

Stating that the world’s most modern observatory telescope has been installed in this Novotheatre for space research, he said that science-minded knowledge seekers will be able to observe and study the nebula through modern telescopes.

The secretary said, the newly constructed Novotheatre has digital scientific exhibits, robots, models of planets with solar system information, five-D simulation theater, immersive ride simulator, Bangabandhu Corner, Sheikh Russell Exhibits Gallery, 200-seat multipurpose hall.

Besides, it has state of the art park and cafeteria with 80 seats and parking system for 85 cars.

This Novotheater was built at a cost of 232 kt with a four-storeyed building of 1 lakh 40 thousand square feet.

After the inauguration, Shaheed AHM Kamaruzzaman Central Park and Zoo, unveiling the plaque at the Novotheatre, balloon-festoon and pigeon flying by the City Mayor. After that the mayor enjoyed two shows with the students.

Later, Mayor Khairuzzaman Liton told reporters, “Our much-desired Bangabandhu Novotheater has been inaugurated. The new generation of the entire north who are interested in space and creation, especially students, will learn a lot from here, will benefit a lot.”

“Besides this, students will come in groups from various educational institutions in the district and upazila outside the city and gain knowledge.”
