300 traveled on the dream metrorail

--

Dhaka: Metrorail is the story of realization and achievement of our dreams. People from all walks of life have been traveling on the metro rail since the Prime Minister inaugurated it on December 28, 2023.

Journalists were also looking forward to when everyone will travel together in the dream metro rail.

After many speculations, under the banner of Freedom Journalist Forum, National Press Club and Dhaka Journalists Union-DUZ organized a round-trip journey from National Press Club to Uttara by metro rail on Sunday (November 12).

It is known that journalists from different parts of the capital started arriving at the National Press Club premises from 7 am.

Former Press Secretary to the Prime Minister and Editor-in-Chief of Bangladesh News Agency (BASS) prominent journalist Abul Kalam Azad, former Information Advisor to the Prime Minister and Editor of The Daily Observer Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Dainik Jugantar Editor Saiful Alam and other senior journalists. At that time, everyone was busy taking pictures.

Around 8 am, the joint editor of DUZ Khairul Alam, who is in overall charge of this arrangement, announced to everyone that Metrorail will be stationed at Jatiya Press Club station at 8.30 am. Report to be present at the platform 10 minutes before the scheduled time.

After hearing this, everyone entered the metrorail station in front of the press club together. I was really surprised when I entered the station. So beautifully arranged, clean and aesthetically pleasing.

Joint editor Khairul Alam had already arranged tickets for everyone. Therefore, before entering the main part of the metro rail, tickets are given to everyone. We all scan the tickets and go up the escalator stairs to the main platform.

When the clock struck exactly 8:30, the Metrorail from Motijheel entered the Press Club station.
Everyone slowly entered the metro rail. I was really proud of my country then. Metrorail will run in Bangladesh, it was a dream. But today we are really in metrorail now. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s unrelenting efforts and morale have made the dream a reality today. Many thanks to Sheikh Hasina for this success.

Metrorail left after 30 seconds of boarding. Metrorail is running. Passengers are boarding and alighting from several stations one by one. There is no commotion, no hawkers and beggars suffering. Metrorail is running. I don’t know how to follow the paths. There is no traffic at the top. No toxic fumes and honking horns. Peaceful silence.

Everyone is watching the scene outside with attention. Suddenly there was a sound. In a while we will get down at Uttara station. I was a bit surprised that Uttara only took 30/35 minutes. It took one and a half to two hours to come by bus. How comfortably, in a short time, I moved from the press club to Uttara.

Then we got down from Uttara station and had breakfast together at a restaurant in front. I heard music in the voice of the artists, shouting and dancing. After the photo session with the senior journalists, I left for the press club from Uttara Metrorail station at exactly 11 o’clock. As there were few passengers on the way in, we journalists occupied a few coaches to play music and reached the Press Club station in 30/35 minutes.

At that time, the joint secretary of DUZ said that Metrorail is a great achievement of the Prime Minister. I thank the Prime Minister for giving such a beautiful gift to the people of the capital. A reunion of all the journalists took place through this trip. We who traveled by metrorail today. Everyone will remember this day forever. Thanks to all the members of the Freedom Journalist Forum.
