Dhaka: The European Union (EU) delegation arrived in Dhaka on Sunday (November 12) for a five-day visit to see the progress of Bangladesh’s labor sector.
During the visit to Dhaka, the party will discuss various issues including the situation after the revision of labor law, abolition of child labor and elimination of all kinds of violence against workers.
The EU delegation is led by Paola Pampaloni, the agency’s deputy managing director for Asia and the Pacific.
On the first day of his visit to Dhaka, Amar Jyoti visited the special school at Badda in the capital. The delegation interacted with the students, teachers and staff there. The delegation will meet the Foreign Secretary, Commerce Secretary and Labor Secretary on November 15. Besides, the members of the EU delegation will have a courtesy call on Law Minister Anisul Haque, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and State Minister for Labor Mannujan Sufian during their visit to Dhaka.
During the visit, the delegation will discuss the progress of the labor sector, implementation of minimum wage, workers’ rights etc.
In 2021, Bangladesh Labor Sector Development Action Plan (NIP) was adopted.
The EU delegation came to Dhaka to discuss the progress in the implementation of NIP.
