Chittagong: BGB is patrolling Chittagong to maintain law and order and ensure security in the fourth phase of the two-day road, rail and waterway blockade program called by BNP-Jamaat and like-minded parties.

According to the announcement, the 48-hour blockade will start from 6 am on Sunday (November 12) and will continue until 6 am on Tuesday.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) informed that 152 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the country to control the law and order situation. Among them, 27 platoons of BGB have been deployed in Dhaka and its surrounding districts.

Apart from this, sufficient number of BGB platoons are on standby.

BGB has been patrolling the highway since dawn in Chittagong. The BGB patrol team led by an Executive Magistrate of Chittagong district administration has been stationed on important roads of the city apart from the highway.

Commander of BGB Chittagong-8 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Shahed Minhaj Chiddiki told BanglaNews that 14 platoons of BGB have been deployed in Chittagong. BGB is already patrolling Chittagong.

Chittagong District Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman told BanglaNews that several teams of BGB, RAB, Police and Ansar members are patrolling the highway and the highway under the leadership of 6 executive magistrates to keep goods transportation normal on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway amid the blockade.

Due to the declaration of blockade, security has been beefed up by demarcating important places in the district The law and order forces will work for the security of all types of communication and property including railways of Chittagong. Police officers also said that if someone wants to sabotage somewhere, they will be prevented.

Along with BGB, RAB-7 is on the ground in Chittagong to maintain law and order. Patrol teams will carry out their patrolling activities across the highways of the district. A reserve team is ready at the camp to handle any situation. There is also an eye on garment factories.

Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (ADC) of CMP Media and Public Relations Department Spina Rani Pramanik told Banglanews that there is no information of any untoward incident anywhere in the city till 12:30 on Sunday. Sufficient police force has been deployed in the field to maintain law and order situation.
