The fourth phase of blockade called by BNP and Jamaat had no impact on public life in Sylhet on the first day. Although long distance buses were not plying from the terminals, all other types of vehicles were operating normally. Long traffic jams have also been observed since morning at various busiest intersections in the city.

On the first day of the fourth phase of the blockade, the youth party leaders protested by throwing bamboos and setting fire to the bypass area of ​​the Sylhet-Jakiganj road on Sunday morning. It was led by District Youth Dal leader Liton Ahmed. They stayed on the road for a while and left. Besides, BNP held a jhatika procession at Nayasad in the afternoon. A few activists of BNP and other organizations took out a jhatika procession from the adjacent area of ​​Address Tower in New Road. After advancing a few hundred yards they broke up and dispersed. The police arrested Mamunur Rashid, convener of Ward No. 17 volunteer group, during picketing at Sheikhghat Jitu Mia point in the morning.

Besides, the traffic in Sylhet city and regional roads was almost normal. All types of vehicles except buses are plying. Since 11 am, a long traffic jam has been seen in Jindabazar, Bandarbazar, Amberkhana and Madina Market areas of the city. The traffic police had to struggle to control the traffic jam.
