Bhashantech will be more beautiful than Gulshan: Mayor

Dhaka: Bhashantech area will be more beautiful than Gulshan. There are some canals here, they will be developed, there will be cycle lanes on the banks of the canals, greening will be done, said Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam

He made this announcement at the inauguration ceremony of about one kilometer of road improvement works including the construction of drainage line from Holding No. 288/5 to 98/2 to the north in Bhashantek area of ​​the capital on Sunday (November 12) afternoon and at a discussion meeting with local residents.

Atiqul Islam said that language technology area consists of several technologies. Here are Albdirtech, Baigartech, Manikadi. These areas are much lower than other areas of Dhaka. During the rains, the water from the higher areas comes down and causes flooding in this area. Therefore planned development will be done in Bhashantech area by constructing drains on every road through the master plan.

The mayor said, the councilors along with the parliamentarians of this area are constantly trying with me to organize the Bhashantech area. However, we request the residents to leave at least 20 feet wide space for road construction. If the road is built below 20 feet, in case of fire, fire service vehicles cannot go, ambulance cannot go. Even the hearse cannot enter. Therefore, if a road is not 20 feet wide, it will not be constructed by the city corporation. There is no point in taking that route.

Addressing the city dwellers, he said, see how much the population was in this area 20 years ago and how much the population has increased after 20 years. Effective and sustainable roads need to be constructed for this huge population. Drains will be constructed on every road. If no one leaves space for construction of 20 feet wide road then MPs and councilors should discuss with them. Explain to them that this wide road is not for the mayor, not for the member of parliament or the councillor. Broad roads will be for the people.

Atiqul Islam also said that a plan has been taken to construct a wide road from Uttara to ECB Square behind the airport via Jasimuddin Road. If this happens, the people of this area will be able to travel in a very short time. The masterplan has everything. Bhashantech area will be more beautiful than Gulshan. There are several canals here. They will be developed, there will be cycle lanes on the banks of canals, there will be greenery.

Member of Parliament for Dhaka-17 Constituency Mohammad Ali Arafat said, I have held several meetings with the mayor with the councilor to organize Bhashantech area. Planned sustainable development will be done in this area. The Prime Minister has directed me to rehabilitate the slum dwellers of Bhashantek. I have already started working. Arrangements will be made to construct habitable and beautiful buildings for the slum dwellers. I don’t want slums to be replaced by slums. Will build accommodation with modern facilities including water, electricity and gas.

After the speech, DNCC Mayor unveiled the name plaque to inaugurate the construction of the road and inspected other ongoing works.
