The court sentenced a youth named Gopal Chauhan (22) to death for killing his mother in Bogra. Additional District and Sessions Judge of Bogra Habiba Mondal gave this verdict on Sunday (November 12) afternoon. This was confirmed by Additional Public Prosecutor (PP) Vinay Kumar Ghosh Rajat.
The convicted Gopal is the son of deceased Jagdish Chauhan of Nataipara area of Bogra city. On the night of February 6, 2020, Gopal killed his mother Sonia Chauhan (65) at their home.
Additional Public Prosecutor (PP) Vinay Kumar Ghosh Rajat said, Gopal himself went to the police in the morning after the murder. According to his words, the police went and recovered the body of Sonia Chauhan. In this incident, the police took him into police custody. Later his elder brother Mithun Chauhan became the plaintiff and filed a murder case. On the next day of the case, Gopal also gave a confessional statement under section 164 on February 8.
He also said that Gopal did not do anything. He wandered from temple to temple. His father died when he was young. Gopal thinks that his mother Sonia killed his father. He was angry about it. Out of anger, Gopal went home on the night of the incident. His mother was sleeping then. At that time, Gopal strangled the mother by strangling her with a thick thread.
