One person was killed in Sirajganj’s Ullapara. His name is Saiful Islam Mandal (52). Allegedly, he was killed by his first wife. The incident took place in Mandaljani village of Sadar Union of Ullapara Upazila last Friday night.
The police have detained the deceased’s wife Nasima Khatun and her daughter Swapna Khatun (20) for questioning in this incident.
According to local police, Saiful Islam got married for the second time a few days ago. After that, the second wife lived in the in-laws’ house. And Saiful lives in a separate house with his first wife. Saiful Islam had a quarrel with his first wife Nasima Khatun since another marriage. Meanwhile, the second wife came to their house.
Because of this, Saiful Islam had another fight with Nasima Khatun last Friday night. Later, when Saiful Islam fell asleep, his wife Nasima Khatun hit him on the head with a dagger and seriously injured him.
Later he was rescued and taken to Ullapara Health Complex. After the initial treatment there, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College (DMH) Hospital for advanced treatment. He died while undergoing treatment there on Saturday morning.
The officer in charge (OC) of Ullapara Model Police Station confirmed this information. Nazrul Islam said that Saiful Islam’s body will be brought to Sirajganj tomorrow Sunday after the autopsy. First wife Nasima Khatun and her daughter Swapna Khatun have been detained for questioning in this incident.
