Miscreants set fire to two vehicles in Yogitala area of Basan police station and Dhirashram area of Sadar police station in Gazipur city on Saturday night.
Shariful Islam, Sub-Inspector of Gazipur Metropolitan Police’s Basan Police Station, told reporters that around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night, a pickup was heading towards Jajar area along the regional road along the three road area of Gazipur metropolis. On the way, when the pickup reached Yogitala area, three youths on a motorcycle stopped the pickup. Later, the driver of the pickup and his accomplice got down and poured petrol and set it on fire. On receiving information, a unit of Gazipur Fire Service went and controlled the fire. The whole part of the pickup truck fell on fire. Legal measures are under process in this incident, he said.
Mohiuddin Ahmed, Inspector (Investigation) of Gazipur Metropolitan Sadar Police Station said that a freight truck loaded with iron (Dhaka Metro-T-14-5835) was going to Natore from Narayanganj around 8:30 pm. When the cargo truck reached Dhirashram area of Sadar police station of Gazipur city, the miscreants stopped the truck by pelting stones, after which the miscreants poured petrol and set it on fire and escaped. Local people brought the fire under control. Later Gazipur Sadar police reached the spot. There is CCTV footage around the spot. They will be verified and action will be taken against those involved.
