Roads and highways were empty of traffic on the first day of the fourth round of 48-hour nationwide blockade called by opposition parties to demand the resignation of the government.
No untoward incident was reported till 9 am on Sunday.
It has been seen on the ground that some trucks carrying food products are moving under BGB guard. Apart from this, limited light vehicles such as autorickshaws, vans and trains are plying.
This morning, Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists staged a protest march by blocking Bogra-Naogaon highway and Bogra city second bypass road. Jamaat-Shibir activists staged protests at various points since dawn. At 7 am, Jamaat workers observed a blockade by throwing tree stumps near the intersection of Bogra-Naogaon highway. Hundreds of Jamaat workers gathered on the highway and demonstrated. Besides, they blocked the road and sat on the road in Jaibangla Hat area of that road.
During the blockade, Jamaat leaders said that the time of this government is over. To maintain power with the help of neighboring countries, the government has indulged in the game of death. Ignoring the wishes of the people, the government is once again planning a one-sided election. But the people of the country will not give any chance to the government to steal votes at night like in the past.
On the other hand, on the initiative of Bogra District BNP, leaders and activists led by Chairperson’s Advisor Helaluzzaman Talukdar Lalu blocked the road and held a rally in Banani Lichutala area of the second bypass road in the city.
Leaders of BNP, Fazlul Bari Talukder Belal, Zainal Abedin Chan, Saheed Un Nabi Salam and BNP Youth Dal, Swachhasevak Dal, Chhatra Dal participated.
Also, the leaders and activists under the leadership of District President and Municipal Mayor Rezaul Karim Badsha held a rally at Matidali area of Bogra-Rangpur highway.
Former president VP Saiful Islam, KM Khairul Bashar, Moniruzzaman Moni and other leaders and activists of the organization and affiliated organizations were present at this time.
