Another new political alliance has emerged in the country ahead of the upcoming 12th National Assembly elections. The name of this new political alliance is ‘Sammilita Mahajot’.
The alliance made its debut in a press conference at Zahoor Ahmed Hall of the National Press Club on Saturday (November 11). Advocate Kazi Rezaul Hossain, chairman of Bangladesh Congress and National Alliance, has been formed as the convener and Abu Nacher Waheed Farooq, chairman of Jatiya Islami Jot and Jatiya Islami Oikyajot, as member secretary.
In the press conference, the chairman of the alliance, the joint convener of the joint grand alliance Mirza Azam, the chairman of the Jatiya Islami Oikyajot and the member secretary of the joint grand alliance, Abu Nacher Wahed Farooq, the chairman of the joint national alliance and the joint convener of the joint grand alliance, Abu Ahad Al Mamun (Dipu Mir), spoke from the coalition partner parties. Chairman of Democratic Alliance Bangladesh and Joint Convener of Combined Grand Alliance SM Ashiq Billah, Chairman of National Democratic Alliance and Joint Convener of Combined Grand Alliance Faiz Hossain, Chairman of Political Parliament Alliance and Joint Convener of Combined Grand Alliance Principal MR Karim and Chairman of Bangladesh Jatiya Islami Jot and Joint Grand Alliance. Speakers claimed that in the interest of the country and the people at this time of crisis and to solve the national crisis, this larger political alliance has the ability to participate in the election by putting candidates in 300 seats without compromising on the will of the people in the upcoming 12th National Parliament elections.
In order to make the upcoming 12th National Parliament elections free, fair, impartial and participatory, 10 points of proposal were presented by the combined grand alliance in the press conference. Among their 10 points are to appoint District Election Officers as Returning Officers instead of DCs, install CCTV cameras in all polling stations and provide adequate security to the candidates.
