A teenager was killed in firing by the Indian Border Guard Force BSF at Dyad Manikchak (DMC) border in Rajshahi’s Godagari. The incident took place on the border on Thursday morning.
It is reported that Samirul Islam alias Samiul (15), son of Hasibul Islam alias Hasibur of Barinagar village of Charashariadah union of the upazila, went to cut grass on the land near Diyar Manikchak (DMC) border around 9:30 am on Thursday morning. At that time, the BSF jawans of the Char Ashariadah outpost of the Indian border fired three rounds at Samirul. Kishore Samirul Islam was shot and killed on the spot.

Ashraful Haque Bhola, chairman of Godagari No. 9 Charashariadah UP, said that Samirul alias Samiul was cutting grass 150 yards inside Bangladesh from the zero line of No. 5 border pillar area of DMC border on Thursday morning. At that time, a patrolling team of India’s Charashariadah BSF fired three rounds at him. Samirul was killed on the spot. Two patrol teams from Sahebnagar and Diyar Manikchak outposts of BGB went to the spot after receiving the information. They recovered the body of Kishore Samirul.
The UP chairman also said that there is a barbed wire fence on the border of Sahebnagar and DMC areas. Barbed wire fences are occasionally miked to warn people not to approach them. But Samirul was cutting grass within 150 yards of the border zero line of Bangladesh. BSF fired completely unprovoked. They shoot anyone who goes near the barbed wire border.
In this regard, Godagari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Atiqul Islam said that he has received information that the body of Kishore Samirul alias Samiul has been recovered by BGB members. According to the law, the body will be handed over to the family and necessary measures will be taken in this regard.
