Chittagong: Leaders and workers of Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League are taking a stand on the road in Chittagong city every day for a 48-hour blockade called by the opposition parties including BNP-Jamaat for a one-point demand.

From Wednesday (November 8) morning, leaders and activists of Awami League and allied organizations took positions in every ward and police station along with various important points of the city.

Chandgaon Thana Awami League leaders took a stand at Bahaddarhat intersection in the city in the morning. Member of Parliament of Chittagong-8 Constituency Noman Al Mahmud and senior leaders of city Awami League were present there.

Besides, Jubo League, Svechasevak League, Sramik League also took a stand on the streets to protest the blockade.

Awami League leaders and activists staged sit-in and anti-blockade marches at various places including Oxygen, Agrabad, Patenga, Halishahar, Muradpur, GEC, Chawkbazar, New Bridge in protest of BNP’s terror and anarchy.

The leaders and activists of 23, 24, 27, 28, 44 organizational wards of Awami League held a sit-in program at Dewanhat and Agrabad intersections of the city.

Doublemooring Thana Chhatra League general secretary Rakib Haider told Banglanews that we have taken the position of Doublemooring Chhatra League with Awami League to prevent BNP-Jamaat arson and terrorism. As long as their anarchy lasts, I will deal with all their conspiracies on the streets to protect the lives and property of the people.

To prevent the anarchy of BNP-Jamaat, under the leadership of Chittagong College President Mahmudul Karim and General Secretary Subhash Mallik Sabuj, College Chhatra League leaders and activists took a cautious stand in Chowkbazar area.

Chittagong College Chhatra League President Mahmudul Karim told BanglaNews that we are on alert for the safety of the people and for the college students to stay safe. Every day we are taking a position in nearby areas including Chawkbazar.

Chittagong City Jubo League Liberation War Affairs Secretary Mohammad Alamgir Tipu told BanglaNews that according to the instructions of Chittagong City Awami League, the leaders and activists of Awami League, Jubo League, Chhatra League and affiliated organizations are holding sit-in programs at 17 points of the city. The leaders and activists are keeping a watchful guard in every ward so that BNP-Jamaat cannot create any anarchy in Chittagong.
