Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed paid a courtesy call on Nagasaki Mayor Suzuki Shiro.
The meeting was held on Tuesday (November 7) with the ambassador at the office of Nagasaki Mayor Suzuki.
According to the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo, when the ambassador went to Nagasaki City Mayor Suzuki Shiro’s office with a delegation, the city officials gave them a warm welcome. In the meeting, the ambassador and the mayor discussed issues related to the mutual interests of the two countries. The ambassador discussed the background of the bilateral relations between the two countries by highlighting the ‘strategic partnership’ announced during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Japan this year.
Mayor of Nagasaki expressed interest in further cooperation with Bangladesh in IT following the Miyazaki model and highlighted the opportunity to utilize Bangladesh’s human resources in potential sectors in Nagasaki.
The ambassador informed the mayor about the inauguration of Dhaka-Narita-Dhaka direct flight Bangladesh Biman. Besides, regarding the 100 economic zones in Bangladesh, he told the mayor that among them Bangladesh has dedicated a special economic zone for Japan.
The Ambassador later visited the Nagasaki Peace Memorial Park. Deputy Chief of Mission Shah Asif Rahman and Embassy Minister Sheikh Farid were present during the visit.
