Bangladesh occupies an important place in India’s iTech programme: ambassador

The Indian High Commission in Dhaka along with iTech Alumni Association of Bangladesh (IAAB) organized a reception and reunion event on Tuesday (November 7) to celebrate the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (iTech) Day. The event was hosted by the Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Prannoy Verma. Dr. Agriculture Minister was present as the chief guest in the event. Muhammad Abdur Razzaq. On the occasion, High Commissioner Verma mentioned that as one of India’s close development partners, Bangladesh occupies an important place in the ITech programme. He also mentioned that there are 500 slots dedicated to Bangladesh in ITech every year under the Golden Jubilee Scholarship and there are several demand-based programs for government employees and private enterprises that are tailored to the needs of the Bangladesh government. He emphasized that the iTech alumni of Bangladesh demonstrate the strong bond of friendship between India and Bangladesh. Government of India’s flagship program iTech was established in 1964 as part of India’s Development Assistance Programme. It is leveraging India’s development experience and technological advancements in more than 160 countries around the world.

Every year, top Indian in various fields like Agriculture, Accounts, Audit, Good Governance Practices, Management, Small and Medium Industries, Rural Development, Public Health, Parliamentary Affairs, Judiciary, Election Management, IT, Data Analytics, Remote Sensing, Renewable Energy etc. More than 10,000 training slots are offered to iTech partner countries for training courses at the institute. So far, more than 5,000 young Bangladeshi professionals have taken such courses in India under ITech programs. Bangladesh is one of India’s most valuable partners under iTech cooperation. In 2020-21 post-Covid Pandemic, several courses have also been arranged virtually under special e-iTech. The iTech training program highlights the best Indian practices and provides opportunities for the most talented people in Bangladesh. As a result, India has equally benefited by learning from the development experience of Bangladesh, which has made remarkable progress, particularly in the fields of agriculture, economic and social development. About 180 iTech Alumni from all walks of life were present on the occasion besides distinguished guests. Some eminent iTech alumni presented their training experiences to the participants. The program concluded with a small cultural program.
