Chhatra Dal’s DU branch joint general secretary Farhan Arif

DU: Farhan Arif, Joint General Secretary of Chhatra Dal’s university wing, has been arrested from Dhaka University (DU) Curzon Hall. He is a student of the University’s Department of Peace and Conflict Studies for the 2010-11 session.

He was handed over to Shahbagh police station at around 8 am on Tuesday (November 7).

It is reported that some students arrested Farhan Arif from Curzon Hall and brought him to the proctor’s office. Later, Professor Dr. Proctor. Md. Maksudur Rahman sent him to Shahbag police station. However, it is not known who the arrested students were.

Meanwhile, the general secretary of the Chhatra Dal’s DU branch, Ariful Islam, complained that some leaders and activists of the Chhatra League arrested Dr. Farhan Arif. Take it to Muhammad Shahidullah Hall.

He said, our Joint General Secretary was taken from Curzon Hall area to Shahidullah Hall by some members of Chhatra League. Later handed over to the proctor’s office.

In this regard, Professor Maksudur Rahman told Banglanews that Farhan Arif is not our current student. He was in the crowd when I got the news. They were making various allegations against him (Arif). Immediately I send people. The police also came there. Later the police found that there was a previous case against him.

When asked who arrested Farhan Arif, he said that ordinary students arrested him.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahbagh police station Noor Mohammad told Banglanews that Farhan Arif is in Shahbagh police station. But he may be taken to Ramana police station.

When asked why he was arrested, OC Noor Mohammad refused to comment.
