Chittagong: Nagar Awami League President Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury said that Ziaur Rahman became a freedom fighter not from his heart but by compulsion. When workers of Chittagong port were sacrificing their lives to unload weapons from the ‘Swat’ ship, he went ahead to unload those weapons on behalf of the invading forces.
In the middle, he returned to Sholshahr in the face of resistance from the brave crowd at Badamtali junction in Agrabad, Chittagong and from there took refuge in Karaldenga. Ziaur Rahman is directly involved in killing Bangabandhu.
He also had a direct role during the November 3 prison killings. He was also the chief behind the scenes during the killing of freedom fighter army officers and soldiers in the early hours of November 7. A Ziaur Rahman believed in the Pakistani ideology wholeheartedly. Although he fought the liberation war, he was a follower of the Pakistani invasion forces and he illegally came to power and rehabilitated war criminals including MA Sabur Khan, Captain Abdul Halim, Shah Azizur Rahman, Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury into politics. His later activities proved that he believed in the Pakistani ideology.
He said this while addressing the protest rally of city Awami League on the day of the killing of freedom fighter army officers and soldiers at Zilla Parishad market square on Tuesday (November 7) afternoon.
He said, BNP has once again joined the game of conspiracy by uniting the anti-independence people. They want to turn this country into a failed state by threats and arson. Their rising leaders Mirza Fakhrul, Mirza Abbas are now on life support in jail.
City Awami League general secretary, former city mayor AJM Nashir Uddin said to BNP and Jamaat, don’t overdo it. Your birth is the sin of ignorance. Democracy is the word of your mouth, crookedness and poison in your heart. You must bear the responsibility for the violent apoliticism you are doing by burning two-four cars and killing the police.
He expressed his anger that the BNP Jamaat planned and openly attacked his residence in the name of blockade and rally to take revenge on the Chief Justice of the country who had executed the war criminals and executed it. They have no regrets. BNP is playing a silent and silent role in the genocide that is being carried out by the Israeli forces with the help of the US in the Holy Land of Palestine in the Middle East. He announced that in the name of unreasonable blockade and hartal, the security of people’s life and property and the loss of state resources will be prevented with the people. From tomorrow, the city Awami League will take a stand at 19 important points in the city.
