Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has taken the initiative to solve the problem of safe parking in Dhaka. To solve the problem, DNCC’s ‘Smart On Street Parking’ program is going to be launched on an experimental basis.
DNCC Spokesperson Maqbool Hossain gave the information on Tuesday (November 7).
He said, this program will be inaugurated on Wednesday. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal will be present as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony presided over by Mayor Atiqul Islam.
What is Smart On Street Parking?
Smart On Street Parking is a mobile app. To eliminate the problem of parking everywhere, the system of parking on the side of the road will be started through this app by paying money per hour. And through this app, the car owner or driver can see where the parking slot is empty in the vicinity. After that anyone can park their car using the app. On Street Parking is named ‘DNCC Smart Parking’.
Initially, 202 cars will be able to park in Gulshan area through smart parking. Initially this service was launched in Gulshan area but later this service will be expanded to different areas under DNCC.
First, this smart parking service is going to be launched in Gulshan’s 46, 52, 58, 62, 63, 64 and 103 roads, Gulshan-2 road around Kacha Bazar. By using the app, anyone can go to these specific places and park the car. Apart from this, advance booking for parking at specific places can also be done using the app.
Vehicle owners and drivers can take this parking service by first registering on DNCC’s Smart Parking app used for smart parking. Apart from this, through the app, you can see where the parking lots are empty around your location. Also, when leaving the house, the car can be booked for parking at a specific or desired place around where it will go.
The parking fee has been fixed for the first two hours, but the fee has been increased from the next hour so that more people get the benefit of parking.
Cash payment of smart parking service fee will not be taken initially. It has to be paid through mobile banking and bank card through the app. Apart from this, the fee can be paid through Point of Sales (POS) machines at the parking lot. However, those who do not have a bank card or mobile banking account for these facilities will be given a parking card. And the authorities will deduct the parking charges from there.
