Dhaka: The European Union (EU) delegation is coming to Dhaka on a five-day visit on November 12 to see the progress of Bangladesh’s labor sector. During the visit to Dhaka, the delegation will discuss various issues including the situation after the revision of labor law, abolition of child labor and elimination of all types of violence against workers.

The EU delegation will be led by Paula Pampaloni, the agency’s deputy managing director for Asia and the Pacific, sources said. The delegation will hold a meeting with the Foreign Secretary, Commerce Secretary and Labor Secretary on November 15.

Besides, the members of the EU delegation will meet Law Minister Anisul Haque, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam and State Minister for Labor Mannujan Sufian during their visit to Dhaka.

During the visit, the delegation will discuss progress in the labor sector, implementation of minimum wages, workers’ rights, etc.

It should be noted that the National Action Plan (NIP) for the development of Bangladesh’s labor sector was adopted in 2021. The EU delegation is coming to Dhaka to discuss the progress in implementing the NIP.
