Reed: A pickup with a large quantity of foreign cigarettes was seized by the police during a raid in Manikchari. Cigarettes were being brought to Chittagong through the Indian border in a novel way.

On Tuesday (November 7) morning, these cigarettes were recovered in an area called Gahitana of Manikchari; Two were also arrested.

It is known that cigarettes are illegally smuggled into the country through the Indian border. The cigarettes were being sent to Chittagong to be sold in a pickup. After getting to know about the matter on the basis of secret information, the police seized the pickup at the Manikchari check post and conducted a search.

Police seized 1415 cartons of foreign cigarettes in seven plastic drums from the pickup. The market value of these tobacco products is Tk 21 lakh.

The arrested are Iqbal Hossain (26) of Golabari area of ​​Khagrachari district headquarters and Abdul Sukkur (28) of Ganjpara area of ​​the district.

Manikachari police station officer-in-charge (OC) Ansharul Karim informed this information and said that a case has been filed in the police station. The accused have been taken to court.
