Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury said, I will work in the service of city dwellers forever. I have received maximum support and love from the people of the city while serving the duties of the City Corporation for 10 years. Wherever I live, I will support the development of this city. I will not hesitate to appear there if there is any benefit to the people of Sylhet through me.
He said, I have got many things in life. Former finance and planning minister M Saifur Rahman is the biggest contributor behind that. Through which I started working in the service of the city dwellers as the chairman of the urban development committee during the four-party coalition government. As a result, I was elected mayor twice in a row. The love shown to me by the people of Sylhet will be the path of my future journey.
Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury said these things at the farewell reception organized by Sylhet Press Club on Monday night.

Outgoing Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury wished the success of the new council of the City Corporation and said that common people have worked as a supporting force in the development of the city.
Giving an example, he said that without the cooperation of the city residents, the widening of roads and drains would not have been possible. Many have donated their valuable land to speed up the development activities of the City Corporation. For that he expressed gratitude to everyone.
He said, I got full support from the journalists in fulfilling their duties. He assured to stand by the journalists in their development.
