A Sub-Inspector (SI) has been withdrawn from the police station after a photo of a Volunteer League leader in Bogra’s Dhunte wearing a police bulletproof jacket went viral. On Monday night, the police officer named Shahidul Islam was withdrawn from Dhunat police station and attached to Bogra police line. Earlier, he was withdrawn from the police station on June 7 in the case of the accused running away from him.

On the night of October 31, Volunteer League leader Sajedul Islam Sagar posted a picture on his Facebook wall wearing a police bulletproof jacket. When criticism started about this, he removed the picture. Sagar’s house is in Nandiarpara village of Nimgachi union of upazila.

According to the police, a police team headed by SI Shahidul Islam went on duty at Sonahata Bazar of Nimgachi Union to avoid the unpleasant situation due to the blockade called by BNP. Shahidul left the bulletproof jacket on the table of the Beat Police office and went out to eat. At that time, Svechasevak League leader Sajedul jokingly took the picture wearing the jacket. He later posted that picture on his Facebook ID.

Rabiul Islam, OC of Dhunat police station, said that after learning about the matter, the volunteer league leader was brought to the police station and handed over to the family after interrogation. No one else is allowed to wear the police jacket. After investigating the matter, the in-charge police officer was found negligent and he was withdrawn.
